If you want to check out Witches Brew I would do it soon. This lovely gathering spot is about to become a victim. Summerlands Community Center and Witches Brew coffee shop is set to close it's doors February 21st, 2010. Here's a copy of the posting from the coffee shop along with information about the LAST event to be held at this location
Witches Brew and Summerlands is closing in February
Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:43am
I want to start this out by saying thank you to everyone. Witches Brew has grown over the years as a place for people to come out and be themselves. People from all walks of life gather here and feel free of oppression so they can express themselves. To a point that we at Witches Brew started the Summerlands community center, a concept in the hopes to give our community a place to continue those efforts. We moved from a tiny shop down the road into this huge building.
We have seen a lot of people come and go throughout the year. Many of you have become family to us. Many of you even made this place a home for your groups and dreams. We are so happy to be sharing that with you.
However, I say this with a Heavy heart, but we are going to be closing down the Brew. Our last day of business will be February 21st. The reasons are partly financial, with the economy hitting all of us. Not enough people can support the building that we are in.
The other part is the building itself. With the heaters going out, water heaters bursting, and the variety of other issues we find ourselves fighting a losing battle in this regard. So this incarnation of Brew is going to move on to the other side.
Offers to help have been pouring in, but its just not feasible. Unless somebody can take over the rest of the building, handle the repairs and work on getting the up stairs finished and full we are not going to be able to do this. We do intend to reopen, we just do not know when. We will pay down our debts, and raise the funds to get our own building. We have a few ideas, but as you all know the money stops a lot of those short.
So between now and the 21st of February we intend to sell some of the fixtures, furniture, and merchandise. We plan to keep the coffee equipment so we can open again later, but mostly everything else is for sale. So if you have found a couch that has shaped it self to your butt, and found a way into your heart, make an offer.
We are going to use all the proceeds from the furniture and fixture sales to pay off our debts, and start the Brew rebirth fund. We are even looking at a coffee truck so we can still keep things going until we can find that perfect building to re open. So look for us at events, in the parks, or ask if we can park outside your event to bring that Brew feeling wherever you are.
We will continue with our regular schedule until we close. So yes, we still have readers, massage, LARPS, merchandise , meetup and classes and of course coffee!!

Imbolc Ritual presented by Coven of the Rising Phoenix January 29th 7pm ( this will be our last ritual in the Ritual room)
Drum Circle will still be on Saturday February 6th. This will be the last drumming in this location. So come out and enjoy a night of drumming and send some good energy out there.

I completely agree with the above comment, the internet is with a doubt growing into the most important medium of communication across the globe and its due to sites like this that ideas are spreading so quickly.

That is too bad that happened. I am always worried about that happening to me because I have had my identity stolen. What did you do to take care of this? What would I have to do in case this happened?
